The Stampede Cruise

A few weeks ago, my amazing sister surprised me by taking me on a cruise on a little catamaran called The Stampede. It is a locally owned boat that takes groups of up to 6 people on chartered tours of Port Elizabeth’s bay, with three different types of cruises to choose from. The option we chose was the water front cruise which goes from the Port Elizabeth Harbour to Cape Recife and back. You can also take a cruise to the nearby St Croix and Brenton Islands to see the largest existing colony of African penguins, or an oyster cruise to the Zwembesi Oyster Farms.

The owner of the boat, Rod, is a very sweet and accommodating man who provides light snacks and cool drink for the passengers. Being as nosy as I am, I asked him why he decided to start these tours and he explained that it started off as a hobby about three years ago when he bought the boat and he still gets just as much enjoyment out of it.

The cruise we chose costs R250 and consists of about two hours of natural beauty viewing time and eco friendliness. They are very focused on the environment as their website states that their top priorites are their passenger’s enjoyment, safety, and conservation.

Just to end this post off, a picture of me posing dramatically, see you next time! xx
