A Little Bit of Me

Hi there! My name is Chelsea Murphy and I want to save the world. Sounds intimidating? It is! But I honestly believe we all have a bit of superhero power in us to make a difference, and I'm going to use this little corner of the web to do just that!

There are millions of different ways that we, as beautiful humans, can use our powers to make a change. We can spread love, give each other hugs, add some happiness into somebody's day, stop judging, be kind, be forgiving and be helpful. We can also be wary of how we treat our environment, those earth-angels we call animals and, most importantly, ourselves.

When you take a second to think about it, a lot of us are damaging ourselves by what we eat, our negative thoughts and our stress levels (trust me, as a student and a general control freak, I know all about stress). Don’t get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we should all sit around the fire singing kumbaya and eating carrot sticks for a better life, I don’t think I could give up chicken nuggets and controlling situations for all the money in the world!

What I am suggesting is that as our new year begins, we should all sit back and take the time to smell the roses/coffee/ocean. Basically whatever makes your soul happy!

Back in December 2016, my sister and I took a drive down to Cape Town to see our family. I was so excited we barely stopped to rest during the trip and my back was quite sore for a few days after arriving. About 2 days later, I felt a really weird pain in my leg, my family brushed it off as a pulled muscle and said we would pop to the pharmacy on Monday morning. But when the time came, I could barely walk. I went to see a physio and he told me something I would NEVER have even dreamed of. My entire left leg was full of blood clots, which could reach my lungs at any moment. And so the first week of my holiday consisted of two operations, lying in a hospital bed and a lot of complaining (me to the nurses/anybody that would listen). Long story short, this very unexpected week of my life made me rethink EVERYTHING. The contraceptive pill was one of the biggest contributors to the clots, but so many doctors suggested it to me in my early teens. Certain foods we eat can thin your blood, my snack time literally became life or death (not really, I’m just dramatic).

But, all jokes aside, it really was one of the scariest times of my life and it caused me to reflect on myself, my personal growth and direction, and that if I could just change one thing, it should be my mindset. I needed to be more positive, take risks and make every day worth living, because you really never know. 2017 was the trial year, I endured many curveballs, but a few days into 2018 and I am already feeling like something indescribable is brewing.

So if this little blog can make one person out there smile or move out of their shadow and live life in the sun, I’ll be super happy.

Thanks for reading about little old me, promise the next post will be more interesting!

LOTS OF LOVE xx
